There she moves with the summer in her hair, A word for all and a beauty that's rare, Between her toes, a little sand from the beach, My senses are breached, she seems just out of reach. There she goes, With the summer in her hair. She seems so close yet so far My senses are breached, she seems just out of reach. A cold, cold look and something she said Affection held, she is somewhere else In a school of love is a place she could teach. My senses are breached, she seems just out of reach. There she goes, With the summer in her hair. She seems so close yet so far My senses are breached, she seems just out of reach, My senses are breached, she seems just out of reach. Oh oh oh, do do do, yeah! Oh oh oh, do do do, oh! My senses are breached, she seems just out of reach, My senses are breached, she seems just out of reach, My senses are breached, she seems just out of reach. Oh oh oh, do do do, yeah! Oh oh oh, do do do, woh! Do do do do, do do do do do! Oh oh oh, do do do yeah!

Flamingos 02:45
Two strange people sitting on a bench, Contemplating but never tense. Just sitting watching the shufflings of the human zoo. Then one of them says; Well we're all of us just earthworms in the compost heap, Just trying to make some kind of sense of things, But sometimes we can be glow-worms! Oh why aren't you drawing the flamingos? O why d'you paint the rust on the rail? Oh why aren't you drawing the flamingos? Oh why d'you paint the rust on the rail? Well there's a place that you go in your dreams, The corners blurred but the water is deep, And when you wake, all wonder is crushed by bureaucracy. We're all of us here by some beautiful accident, It's time to wave a flag and set a president, So then we can reach high, high high! Oh, why aren't you drawing the flamingos? Oh why d'you paint the rust on the rail? Oh why aren't you drawing the flamingos? Oh why d'you paint the rust on the rail? Brapapabappapabap! Brapapabappapabap! Brapapabappapabap!

Forget Her 04:02
I met her by the river, Light reflecting from her, It started getting cooler, so we sat around the fire. Gravity was pulling, Between the stellar bodies, And nobody was fooling, The forces of the night. And I know, I must forget her now and forever, And I know, I must forget her oh oh oh oh. Our wine glasses were loaded, They shined and touched together. and soon after our lips did, In a single moment, That could have been forever, we threw our glasses to the water, They were swallowed by the river, and the forces of the night. And I know, I must forget her now and forever, And I know, I must forget her oh oh oh oh. And I know, I must forget her now and forever, And I know, I must forget her oh oh oh oh. And it's so hard, to wonder where you are now. And it's so hard, not to think about you now.

Galleries 03:37
Once I was happy, as anyone could be. I loved a girl and she loved me back, In a bubble, big as the sea. Now I'm so lonely, just the water and the tree. The sparrow and the pussycat, the coldness of the breeze. Through the galleries of time and space we ride (a-ha), Through the cellophane veneer of time and tide (a -ha), Through the melody, the nature and the fire (a-ha), Through the tangled maze we try, We try, We find. Now the air is moving, just as slowley as the night. The moonlight swims and the angels swing, from star to satellite. Now I am a-gliding, to where the sun will rise. A bluebird calls, A feather falls, The hills are hypnotised. Through the galleries of time and space we ride (a-ha), Through the cellophane veneer of time and tide (a -ha), Through the melody, the nature and the fire (a-ha), Through the tangled maze we try, We try, We find. We try, We try, We find. Once I was happy, as anyone could be, I loved a girl and she loved me back in a bubble big as the sea, big as the sea big as the sea big as the sea big as the sea.

Beachcombing 04:08
Sitting dreaming American dreams, Surrounded by familiar English scenes, No matter what it all means, Just find a shiny pebble on the beach. I read it in a book somewhere, All that is solid melts into the air, I passed your shadow on the stair, We passed around the elixir. Beachcombing, how I wanna spend my days, Beachcombing, I'll be blissed-out in a haze, Beachcombing, where there's something I can keep. Beachcombing, just find a shiny pebble on the beach. I'm going where the creatures fly, And the old men are not afraid to die, So come along, lets throw the die, Let's find a little paradise. We're walking where the sea meets land, Far away, hand in hand, You are the rescue where I crash land, Just find a shiny pebble in the sand. Beachcombing, how I wanna spend my days, Beachcombing, I'll be blissed-out in a haze, Beachcombing, where there's something I can keep. Beachcombing, just find a shiny pebble on the beach. Beachcombing, how I wanna spend my days, Beachcombing, I'll be blissed-out in a haze, Beachcombing, where there's something I can keep. Beachcombing, just find a shiny pebble on the beach. Beachcombing, how I wanna spend my days, Beachcombing, I'll be blissed-out in a haze, Beachcombing, where there's something I can keep. Beachcombing, just find a shiny pebble on the beach.

If you knew the value of love you'd never come around here with your stories slinging mud, And we'd never blow our fellow man to kingdom come, We'd be up til the rising sun, Up til the rising sun. (Oh yeah). Well the shops are full of cards, chocolates, flowers and rings, An apology is bought with the thought a heart would sing, Affection sold while the cash-tills ring, Somewhere a butterfly takes wing, Somewhere a butterfly takes to the wind. If you knew the value of love you'd never come around here with your stories slinging mud, And we'd never blow our fellow man to kingdom come, We'd stay up til the rising sun, Up til the rising sun. Oh oh, yeah yeah, up til the rising sun, Oh oh, yeah yeah, up til the rising sun. Well the leaders of the world just sit in a circle, And between them all there's a great big hole. There's a chance to fight for equality for all, And all they're doing is a-waging war, All they're doing is a-waging war, All they're doing is a-waging war. And If you knew the value of love you'd never come around here with your stories slinging mud, And we'd never blow our fellow man to kingdom come, We'd stay up til the rising sun, Up til the rising sun.

A long time ago came a print in the dirt made by a stranger but soon everybody heard he laid down a home where the ground was smooth then along came his friends and they all tried to prove (Chorus) No Tobacco, No Jesus. No Tobacco, No Jesus! Well speeches were made say's we're put to the test by the fervour of holy righteousness the shaman called a talk, though it kinda surreal so they said "hey wait, lets just make a deal!" (Chorus x 2) Well all through the savannah and all round the world there's erosion of culture and destruction of homes allegiances are made, well they might sell your soul and throw it away to the power of Rome. (Chorus to end)

"Flamingos" is dedicated to all artists & eccentrics. It is also in tribute to Ivor Cutler, Dave Allen and in particular my late friend Rich. It was Rich & I who had the conversation which went something like this;
Me - "Well I don't know what we can ever fully know, I think we're all ultimately just like earthworms in the compost heap. We can try to make sense of things but we can never fully understand everything no matter how much we try"...
Rich - "Yes Jon, but some of us are GLOW-WORMS"!
